The well-known architect and the member of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), Dr. George Cherian passed away on 25th July 2014. For the last few months, he has been suffering from cancer. His body will be brought back to Kerala from Australia soon and the funeral will be organised at Marthoma Church, Edanad, near Chenganoor, his hometown.

Dr. Cheriyan was a well-known face in the Malayalam film industry. He has acted along with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Ganesh in the movies Butterflies, Kashmeeram and Njan Gandharvan respectively. Apart from Malayalam movies, he had also appeared in various Tamil and Kannada movies and also in Malayalam and Hindi serials.  

Dr. George Cherian is also famous as a poet. He had got published a collection of his poems named 'Cheru Jeevithakathakal'. He had worked as a Military officer and Chief Architect in Dubai for 10 years and also owns an Architecture Engineering Consultancy Institute in Doha. Cherian is survived by wife Dr. Roja Cherian and children Roshan Cherian and Roni Cherian.
