Vinu Chakravarthee (15 December 1945 – 27 April 2017) was an Indian actor, scriptwriter, and director who is known for acting in more than 1000 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Badaga and Malayalam mostly as a comedian, supporting actor or in a villainous role. The actor, who had appeared in 1,000 films, had also been a notable feature in several films of actor Rajinikanth including Guru Sishyan, Raajathi Raja and Annamalai.

Actor Vinu Chakravarthy (74), who has also written and directed films, died on Thursday. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Mr. Vinu Chakravarthy had appeared in over 1,000 films across the four south Indian languages.
The actor had also been a notable feature in several films of actor Rajinikanth including Guru Sishyan, Raajathi Raja and Annamalai.
He was last seen on screen in the Tamil movie Vaayai Moodi Pesavum which was directed by Balaji Mohan. He was also seen in a prominent role in Muni, the 2007 horror-comedy film directed by Raghava Lawrence.
Vinu Chakravarthy is a South Indian actor, whose debut Malayalam movie was Sangham. But he got noticed for his performance in Meleparambil Aanveedu. His roles in Thekashipattanam, Manikyachembezhukke, etc were highly praised.
