AmmA Family Meet held at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) hosted its family meet on Saturday in Kochi. The event, held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, saw a turnout of approximately 2,500 attendees, including actors and their family members.

The late actor Murali named the Malayalam film actors' association as 'AMMA,' and that’s how it should remain, stated actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi. He made this comment at the 'AMMA' family gathering held in Kochi.

"'AMMA' was named by the heavenly Sri Murali, our dear Murali Chettan. It should always be pronounced like that. We won't follow what the outsiders dictate. They can keep their versions of 'A,' 'M,' 'M,' and 'A' at their homes. For us, it’s 'AMMA,'" said Suresh Gopi.

"Shortly after the organization was formed in 1994, under the guidance of the respected Madhu Sir, the association began as 'AMMA,' in an effort to establish order and structure. Later, under the leadership of Sri M.G. Soman, the organization became firmly established. In January 1995, the first 'AMMA Show' was held. From there, the association has grown as a collective that holds a special place in many hearts. Through its activities, it has achieved recognition and moved forward," Suresh Gopi added.

This was also the first event of 'AMMA' attended by Mohanlal after stepping down from the role of president. For the first time in the history of the organization, a family gathering of this kind has been conducted, featuring cultural programs and various competitions for its members.

The event was organized to raise funds to provide life-saving medicines for financially struggling members of the organization.
