Padma Awards 2025 - AmmA Members - Shobhana, I M Vijayan

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has revealed the list of awardees for the prestigious Padma Awards for 2025. This year, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards, with 23 women among the recipients. The list also includes 10 awardees from abroad, including NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and foreigners, as well as 13 posthumous awardees. Let’s take a look at the honorees in the Literature and Education category.

A total of 30 individuals will be recognized under this category, with the awards being conferred at ceremonial functions at Rashtrapati Bhawan, typically held around March or April.

Padma Vibhushan 2025

The highest honor for exceptional and distinguished service to the country, the Padma Vibhushan, will be awarded to 7 individuals this year. In the Education category, MT Vasudevan Nair from Kerala, fondly known as MT, will receive the award posthumously. He passed away on December 25, 2024. Other Padma Vibhushan awardees include Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Justice (Retd.) Shri Jagdish Singh Khehar, Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, Osamu Suzuki, and Sharda Sinha.

Padma Bhushan 2025

The Padma Bhushan, given for distinguished service of a high order, will be conferred on several notable figures in the Literature and Education category this year. The recipients include Bibek Debroy, A Surya Prakash, and Rambahadur Rai, alongside others like Vinod Dham, Shekhar Kapur, Shobana Chandrakumar, Pankaj Patel, Pankaj Udhas, P R Sreejesh, and Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Padma Shri 2025

The Padma Shri, awarded for distinguished service in various fields, will be presented to a number of individuals in the Literature and Education category. These include Anil Kumar Boro, Arunoday Saha, Arvind Sharma, Chandrakant Sheth, David R Syiemlieh, Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, Gita Upadhyay, Hriday Narayan Dixit, Hugh and Colleen Gantzer, Jagadish Joshila, K L Krishna, Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer, Lalit Kumar Mangotra, Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli, Nagendra Nath Roy, Nitin Nohria, Pratibha Satpathy, Ramdarash Mishra, Renthlei Lalrawna, Sant Ram Deswal, Seeni Viswanathan, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Stephen Knapp, Syed Ainul Hasan, Tushar Durgeshbhai Shukla, and Vadiraj Raghawendracharya Panchamukhi.

These distinguished individuals have made significant contributions in their respective fields and will be honored for their exceptional achievements.
