The film is directed by debutant Manu Swaraj and produced by Vijay Babu and Vijay Subramaniam under the banner of Friday Film House, a production company known for delivering remarkable films in Malayalam cinema. Padakkalam is set in a campus backdrop, narrating the events that unfold in the playground of young students. The movie blends humor and fantasy to tell its story.
