With Mohanlal stepping down after a seven-year tenure as president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AmmA), six prominent members have entered the fray to succeed him. The election is scheduled to take place in August.

The upcoming election will determine not only the next president but also two vice-presidents, a general secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, and 11 executive committee members. 

“We have received a total of 74 nominations, with many members applying for multiple posts. These will now undergo scrutiny to finalize the official list of candidates,” a spokesperson for AmmA said. Among these accepted nominations is 64. The final list will be published on July 31st.
