Bidding a tearful farewell to the emperor of comedy, thousands gathered to pay their last respects. Many people flocked to the Paravur Town Hall to see their beloved actor one last time. The body was brought to the Town Hall from Amrita Hospital in Kochi for public viewing at around 8 a.m.

Prominent figures from the film, social, and political fields paid their final respects. Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, K. C. Venugopal, Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi, MLA Ramesh Pisharody, director Kamal, actors Dileep, Jayaram, Ranjith Panicker, Baburaj, Vineeth, Nadirshah, Tini Tom, and actresses Navya Nair and Anna Ben were among those who paid homage.

The funeral was held with official honors. The police gave a bugle salute.
