Years ago, Mamitha Baiju first appeared in front of the camera as a little girl in the Prithviraj and Anoop Menon-starrer Pavada. From there, she gradually grew into one of the prominent leading actresses in Malayalam cinema. Films such as Super Sharanya and Pranayavilasam helped establish Mamitha as a familiar face in the Malayalam film industry. However, it was Premalu that truly changed her fortunes.
Following that, Mamitha was embraced by the Tamil film industry. She delivered an impressive performance as the female lead in Dude, a film that explored the complexities and complications of modern-generation relationships. Made on a budget of around ?35 crore, the film reportedly collected ?100–113.25 crore at the box office before completing its theatrical run.
Mamitha was then seen in the Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan. She played the role of the protagonist's foster daughter and remained impressive throughout the film. As Viji, or Vijayalakshmi, Mamitha had a substantial role that stood alongside the lead character, particularly in the climax sequences. The film reportedly grossed around ?320–325 crore at the box office.
Now comes Mamitha's Onam-season box-office run, this time in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema. For the first time, she is playing the female lead opposite both Suriya and Nivin Pauly. Viswanath and Sons has collected a total net of ?102.70 crore in the Indian market, while its gross collection has reached ?118.80 crore. The film is also continuing its strong performance in overseas markets. After earning ?1 crore on Monday alone, the film's total overseas gross collection has risen to ?59 crore.
Nivin Pauly-starrer Bethlehem Family Unit, in which Mamitha Baiju also plays a prominent role, has crossed the ?100 crore mark as the Thiruvonam celebrations approach. Remarkably, the film achieved this milestone in just six days. The movie is directed by Girish A.D.
With a series of successful films and back-to-back ?100 crore grossers, Mamitha Baiju is undoubtedly enjoying a remarkable phase in her career.
