Malayalam cinema’s beloved actor Mammootty received the National Award for Best Actor for the fourth time. He received the award from President Droupadi Murmu at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.

Mammootty shared the Best Actor award with Kartik Aaryan for his performance in the film Chhaava Champion.

Mammootty said that being recognized at the national level is an inspiration for any artist and that he feels extremely fortunate to have received his fourth National Award. He recalled that the achievement was part of a long journey with a large team that included the directors, technicians, fellow actors, producers and audiences who supported and appreciated his work.

He also expressed his happiness at having been able to entertain people for so many years and assured that he would continue to work hard to do so in the years ahead.

“I Choose Films Based on the Script”

Mammootty said that he chooses films by looking primarily at the script rather than the character. He also explained that he does not usually undertake extensive preparation before playing a role.

He said that he does not make elaborate preparations before going to the set. For the character of Kodumon Potti, he spent around half an hour with the makeup artist and costume designer to develop the character’s appearance.

He also thanked the director, makeup team, costume designer and cinematographer for their contributions in bringing the character to life.
