Malayalam Film Director K.G. George (77) Passes Away

Renowned Malayalam film director K.G. George has passed away at the age of 77. He died on Sunday at an old age home in Kakkand. He had been undergoing treatment following a stroke. His last film as a director was *Ilavankod desham* released in 1998.

K.G. George is celebrated for his significant contributions to Malayalam cinema, with notable works including *Panchavadi Palam*, *Irakal*, *Yavanika*, *Aadaminte Variyellu*, and *Lekha’s Death: A Flashback*. Other acclaimed films directed by him include *Swapnadanam*, *Akkadath*, *Kolamall*, *Mela*, *Iraala*, *Katha Kazhinja Ponnin*, *Kathayari*, *Panchavadi Palam*, and *Eekkani Koode*.

Born on May 24, 1945, in Thiruvalla to Samuel and Annama, K.G. George was initially named G. George. He completed his primary education at Thiruvalla SD School and earned a degree in Political Science from Changanassery NSS College. He later pursued a film direction course at the Pune Film Institute. He entered the film industry as an assistant to the renowned director Ramu Karyat.
