Krishna Prasad : Simple and Humble

Do you remember the slightly mischievous brother of Sulochana (Gauthami) in the movie 'Ayalathe Adheham', who always irritates his brother-in-law, Premachandran (Jayaram); the loving young boy of 'Oru Yathramozhi'; the housekeeper in the movie 'Season'; a Kalmandalam student in Sibi Malayil's 'Kamaladalam'; the distressed brother in 'Meenathil Thalikettu'; the hotel manager in 'Vettam' It is none other than Krishna Prasad, a very familiar face in the Malayalam movie industry. With his small but relevant roles, Krishna Prasad always remained an inevitable part of Malayalam movie industry.

Krishna Prasad has started his journey through the world of music and art from his college day onwards. He was the winner of the Mahatma Gandhi University Youth Festival for the years 1991 and 1992. I was very much blessed to be part of the projects like 'Venal Kinavukal' of K S Sethumadhavan and also getting associated with great directors like Sibi Malayil, Rajasenan, Pratap Pothen, Vinayan etc., says Krishna Prasad. He adds that getting opportunities to work with these great film makers was itself a blessing for him.

Krishna Prasad was once the representative of the youth of the 80s and 90s  carefree, mischievous, but at the same time good at heart. One of his well noticed movies was; Ayalathe Adheham directed by Rajasenan. His role Sudheeran or Sudhi, as the brother of Gauthami;, the heroine of the movie was quite interesting. He appeared in many other movies too. His role in the movie Oru Yathramozhi directed by Prathap Pothen will always remain in our heart. Krishna Prasad is an ardent fan of Mohan Lal and as per him, he was lucky enough to have combination scenes with his favourite actor in 'Oru Yathramozhi'. This movie was more important to me, as I also got an opportunity to share the screen with the great Shvaji Ganesan too, he says. He got associated with Mohanlal in other movies like Seasons, Thacholi Varghese Chekavar, Kanmadam, Kamaladhalam etc.

Krishna Prasad not only appeared in the big screen but also tried his luck in television serials too. His performances in Sthree, Samayam, and Samaksham were critically well acclaimed. For his performance in Samaksham, he was rewarded with Critics award. While getting more opportunities in the small screen, he didn't give up his passion over the big screen industry.

Krishna Prasad is not only an actor. We will be surprised to see him as a dedicated agriculturist, who is very ambitious about agriculture and cultivation. In the midst of his busy schedules with the film and television industry, he manages his time as an agriculturist. While asking about this, he will smile and say, nothing is impossible, if we have the will to do that. He has followed the path of his father, who was an agriculturist. In 2010, Krishna Prasad received the Young Agriculturist Award for his hard work and sincerity. He is mostly interested in cultivating paddy, which is said to be the staple food of Keralites. Along with paddy, Krishna Prasad also concentrates on Plantain and Tapioca cultivations.

Being the member of Kerala Chalachitra Academy and Kerala Lalithakala Academy, Krishna Prasad is very much involved in the Malayalam movie industry and other cultural activities. He recently acted in movies like Anjali Menon's 'Bangalore Days', 'Perariyathavar' of Dr. Biju, Raktharakshassu 3D etc. His upcoming movies are Dr. Biju's Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal, which is based on endosulphan victims, 'Budhan Chirikkunnu' by R Sarath etc. In Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal his co-star is Kunchako Boban. Earlier he had shared the screen with Chakochan in the movie Nakshatratharaattu.

Those people are rare, who, being standing in the midst of a glamour world, get down to earth and live like a common man. Krishna Prasad is a person like that. He is simple and humble. Krishna Prasad is married to Reshmi and they have two daughters  Prarthana Krishna and Prapancha Krishna.
