Nishan's debut Malayalam movie was 'Ritu' directed by Shyamaprasad. His performance as Sharath was well noticed. Later he appeared in several Malayalam movies. His performance in Apoorvaragam and Ee Adutha Kalathu were highly acclaimed. He also enacted in the highly praised bilingual movie 'Gramam'.
