An Unnecessary Strike Due to the Stubbornness of a Few; AmmA Declares No Support

AmmA has taken a firm stance, stating that they will not cooperate with the strike called by the producers' association. In a press release, AMMA expressed concerns that the ongoing financial crisis in the film industry is being further worsened by an unnecessary strike initiated due to the stubbornness of a few individuals. This, they argue, is not only affecting the financial sector but also pushing many workers who depend on the industry into deeper crisis.

Full AmmA Press Release:

AmmA had convened a meeting to discuss various demands put forward by the producers' association, including the proposal to reduce actors' remuneration. Based on the discussions held in this meeting, AmmA has now officially announced its stance. The decision regarding actors' remuneration can only be made after the upcoming AmmA General Body Meeting, as per the resolution taken during the discussions.

The special meeting of AmmA members has decided that the organization will not extend any support to the film strike called by a section of Malayalam film producers. The meeting evaluated that dragging the already struggling film industry into an unnecessary strike due to the obstinacy of certain individuals will only exacerbate the financial crisis, affecting not just the industry but also numerous workers who depend on it for their livelihood.

Furthermore, AmmA reiterated that any decision regarding actors’ remuneration will be taken only after the next General Body Meeting. The organization also reaffirmed its willingness to hold discussions with any film industry associations that are working towards the betterment of Malayalam cinema.

Additionally, the meeting decided to provide full legal support to Mr. Jayan Cherthala, a member of AmmA’s ad-hoc committee.

The meeting, held today, was attended by around fifty members, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, Joju George, Biju Menon, Vijayaraghavan, Saikumar, Manju Pillai, and Bindu Panicker, as confirmed by AmmA.
